La Belle Sophie

This weekend, Shimer Photography made a trip up to Tallahassee to visit 6 week old Sophie Annas (born May 20th, 2009) and take a few pictures of her. She was a very cooperative client - once she was asleep. We had a lot of fun making a weekend out of it, playing with the baby and hanging out with her parents, Carlos and Katrina. We were really pleased with the results and we hope mom and dad will be too! Here are some of our favorites.

USA's Oldest City

Yes, today we went on a slightly belated birthday trip to St. Augustine, FL. This is America's oldest city. It was settled by the Spanish in 1565 and has been thriving ever since. It brought back nice memories as one of our previous trips lead to Megan being published :) (See our first blogs for info on that). We started off at the Castillo de San Marcos (the fort) and then made our way down St. George Street and around to Flagler College. It's a beautiful city and has so much history. How lucky we are to have it so close by. Here are some of our shots from our walking tour.

Без перевода Oktomat!

Say hello to our newest member of the Shimer Camera Collection: Oktomat! This little beauty is similar to one of our other cameras (the supersampler) except instead of 4 shots on one frame, the Oktomat takes 8 separate shots on one negative, giving you a way cool grid. You can also get a bit of a sense of movement in your shots. We are super excited to give this one a try, and we're so glad that Justin's parents got it for us while they were in a Russian market in New Hampshire (they obviously know us pretty well).
Stay tuned for example shots!

NYC Polaroid Transfer Remembered

Well, it's been several months since our trip to New York last July, and we have missed it ever since we left. The pace, the noise, the vibrance. It really hit me as we were unpacking and I found this polaroid transfer print we had done by a girl on the street in Soho. She just had a table, a pan of water and a polaroid camera and she did on the spot polaroid transfers. This is without doubt our favorite souvenir from our trip, and it has inspired us to offer this service as a business. We are in the process of getting a camera working and then we will be up and running. We will certainly notify everyone once it's a go :) In the meantime, we can just look at ours and reminisce.
