Merry Christmas!

We hope everyone had a happy holiday today! We certainly did. Our present to each other are always awesome (at least to us), and this time our clients can benefit from our gifts as well. Justin got a nice new flash for his camera from his parents and then I got him...(drum roll please) - A Diana F+ Hong Meow!

The Hong Meow is a limited edition version of the Diana F+ made to commemorate the Diana World Tour in Hong Kong. "Hong Meow" in chinese translates as "Panda", therefor the camera is black and white with pandas on it in various spots.
Also, Justin was nice enough to give Megan several lenses and attachments for the Diana F+, including a 55mm Wide and Close Up lens to focus within 6 inches on our subjects, a 38mm Super Wide lens to fit more into the shot when we're in a tight space, a 20mm Fisheye lens that gives 180 degrees of view, and a back attachment to convert the camera to hold 35mm film (great for sprocket hole photography).

Alex & Sammy

Today Justin helped out Alex and Sammy to give their parents a unique Christmas gift. He took them out on a mini portrait session and just tried to capture them having fun together. It was a really fun session, and the pictures definitely reflect that.
Sometimes some of the best shots are those that are just taken as enhanced candids :)

We hope their parents enjoy their Christmas gift!

Big Daddy Weave Concert

The New Venture Church in Titusville, FL asked us to take some photos of a concert that they helped host featuring Big Daddy Weave along with Rush of Fools and Jason Gray. It was a fun night all in all (we helped strike the set and pack everything up into the truck as well) and we got some good shots for the church's website.
Here are some of the highlights of the night.

Sarah & Ryan's Wedding

Today we were privileged to shoot the wedding of Sarah & Ryan Vorwaller. They were married in the Orlando, Florida Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the morning (beautiful building - you couldn't ask for a better backdrop), and their reception was later that night in Rockledge. As it was our first official wedding, we did learn a few things for next time, but everything still went smoothly and we are very happy with the resulting photos.
Hopefully Sarah and Ryan are as happy as we are with them!
Here are a few of our favorites from the day.

Shimer Photography Goes To New York

Yes, that's right. Justin and I spent a whole week in the Big Apple. We went with Justin's parents and his nephew and we saw it all! (Or at least as much as one could possibly squeeze into 7 days). Some of our favorite things included seeing Young Frankenstein on Broadway, going to Morningside Heights, the Ellis Island Museum, and going to The Cloisters Museum in Fort Tryon Park. We even ate at the restaurant from Seinfeld (yes, that was my request). The Cloisters was lovely and it was literally our last stop (we barely made it back to the hotel in time to get to the airport afterward). What a difference it is up there compared to the rest of the city. So quiet. We even bought a little art work for ourselves outside The Met Museum.
It was a very welcome break from everything at home, and we had a fantastic time. We only just got home and we can't wait to go back!
Of course, we brought cameras with us every inch of the way. So, here are some of the ways that we saw New York City.

Tired and Dirt Covered...

Justin and I were asked to be the official photographers and videographers for The Trek, a pioneer re-enactment trek put on ever four years by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 14-18 year olds. Not only did we take pictures throughout the 4 day experience (while ever so fashionably attired like pioneers), we also put together an old time portrait studio and gave a little lesson about the beginnings of photography. We even made our own antique camera!

And yes, that is a real log that we made into our "tripod". Along with our authentic camera, we also rigged up a hand held, gun powder flash that we filled and flared with each portrait we took.

We actually had both an original bellows camera on the bottom and had our digital camera on the top (which was actually taking the photos). After the fact, we made all the photos look like antique kalitypes.
We had lots of fun, even if we did get a bit wet and dirty. Here are some of our favorite shots that we ended up with.

Another Year, Another Camera

Well, another year older as the saying goes. Today was my birthday and Justin got me a fantastic gift - one of the perks of being engaged to a fellow photographer. Justin got me a Diana F+ Camera!

This fabulous little gadget is a reproduction of the original Diana, but they've added some cool new features. It now has a removable lens, a pinhole setting, and bulb mode - all of which people have converted the original Dianas to do - the perk with this version is, you can always convert it back to it's lovely original self... just as the Great Wall Plastics Company intended.

I love my new little toy and vow to put it to good use. (Isn't Justin just the sweetest?) Maybe one of you will want us to try it out at your occasion? :)

Bending New Horizons

The day has finally come! We just got the Horizon Perfekt camera today! Now we have yet another specialty camera to fit your needs!

The Horizon Perfekt is a true panoramic camera complete with a sweeping lens that actually moves to show 170 degrees. What does this mean for you? This means wonderful shots of buildings and interesting portraits with stunning backgrounds.
We will have examples up very soon to show you what it can do.
Don't you want to help us put it to good use?
